Vape batteries are more powerful than your regular AA batteries and need to be handled carefully. A lot of vape mods are powered by external 18650 or 20700 batteries. Below we have put together a guide to keep your batteries safe for regulated mods.
Make sure you keep the battery wraps intact:
This is crucial when looking after your batteries. Make sure that your batteries stay in pristine condition, if you notice anything such as nicks, tears or any bumps then the safest thing to do is to rewrap them. Most shops will be able to rewrap them free of charge or they will have new ones to hand.
Make sure you use the correct batteries:
The battery you use depend on your style of vaping. When choosing a battery for your mod, make sure they have the correct specifications for use. If you sub-ohm vape then you will want a high drain battery such as the Samsung 25R 18650.
Make sure you use battery cases:
When purchasing vape batteries, you should receive it in a case. Make sure that when you take your battery out of your mod you put it in a battery case. Never throw your batteries in pockets or bag when they are not in use. If you have multiple batteries, then it is good to invest in some plastic battery cases. Unprotected tend to short circuit when they come into contact with metal objects which can cause your battery to overheat and even potentially explode.
Make sure you buy from authorised retailers:
Batteries are very important, please make sure they are authentic and not a counterfeit. Always buy your batteries from reputable shops. Here at Vapox we make sure all products are authentic including our batteries.
Make sure you charge your batteries correctly:
When using external batteries, you will need to charge your batteries using an external battery charger as it is safer. The cost of a battery charger is equivalent to a bottle 50ml shortfill e-liquid. If you decide to invest a bit more, you can get a battery charger that has features like battery health monitoring and fast charging.
Remember not to leave your batteries on charge overnight as some chargers do not cut-off once fully charged. This can cause the battery to overheat which is not safe.
Make sure you do not fully drain your batteries:
When using your vape mod, try not to completely drain your batteries. This is because lithium-ion batteries tend to lose their capacity the more you let them discharge. Mods with screens tend to show the battery level, if you take the batteries out before they are completely drained, you will prolong their life.
Make sure you use married batteries:
If you are using a mod that requires two or more batteries, always use the same branded/modelled batteries and keep them married. Married means; buy them together, charge them together and use them together. This will ensure that cells get the same number of charges/discharges which will help their performance.
Finally, make sure you replace your batteries:
Everything needs replacing after a while, including batteries. No matter how well you look after them, after a certain amount of cycles, the will need replacing. The battery will start to lose capacity and its strength after a long period of time. We recommend changing your batteries every 6 months to a year.
When replacing your battery, please recycle them by putting them in a battery disposal box instead of throwing them in the bin. Recycling batteries are good for the environment, please follow the safety instructions when disposing of your battery.
